a heart filled with joy

So joyful for the heart-full experience of moving our son to a great school (The Londonderry School). Three recesses a day, lots of time playing outside, bicycle blender smoothies on Friday mornings to raise money for the seventh and eighth graders. (And somehow they manage to get all the same core curriculum work done with so much joy and fun). It was so hard to leave beloved friends from kindergarten behind, but since fifth grade is the year that school's teacher decided there would be no colored pencils, no straying from the curriculum, no cute things on the desk and at least a 15 minute detention for dropping and losing a red pen, it was time to go! I know that teacher really does what her heart guides her to do to the end of preparing kids for the new business of middle school, but it's a different world we want him to be prepared for. One where more hugs are welcome, where kindness and sharing are appreciated over efficiency, and where fun and a light heart fuel creativity and output more than fear. So grateful for the luxury of schools to attend and the choice to send our beloveds into a warm and loving environment while we are away from them at work. Hoping everyone you love is safe, happy and well!
