Flowing along

Had a little time for a walk after work before getting to River's karate class (sweet class with a focus on strength, kindness and service but I know he enjoys a chance to feel strong and fierce for a change).

Found myself feeling so peaceful and happy making my way around the city on such an unexpectedly lovely and sunny afternoon.  Feeling delight in the sweetness of a new sense of ease: not needing to rush and not feeling driven to do any particular thing.

Some pictures along the way:
Swept along with the murmuration of starlings, the call of a hawk and a crow and the flocks of geese making their way steadily to wherever they are called next to be.
Salted caramel hot chocolate for a dollar and change, my little pink and brown bag to hold my coat and a few things and that amazing light calling me out onto the river. Our own hearts our most sacred home on the planet.

alternate universes and other pleasures

So I'm running some errands and stop to grab birthday cupcakes from our local-ish bakery and look what I found. Felt like I stepped off the edge of the world and fell Allison Wonderlike into some alternate universe, probably closest to it's North Pole (assuming they had one). I don't really swoon for sweet, feminine digs but holy cow, who could fail to be a little bit charmed by this place. I'm also pretty Scroogy about holiday music and decorations this soon after Halloween but I have to admit to a moment of euphoria while listening to Johnny Mathis sing Silver Bells (or maybe it was Neil Diamond? I'm a lost cause) while I slurped chai tea and gobbled down an apple cupcake with whipped cream cheese icing. Definitely a place to bring your favorite kid (young or old). I don't know if it was all the sugar or the Pennsylvania Bakery's magic but I floated right out of town dazed and content, mooning all the way over the gorgeous old trees that are everywhere you look. (Yikes! Driving under the influence of trees...).

Wishing you a cozy day with a little sweetness and hopefully a nice cup of something warm and spicy. :)

Kicking around town

Loved exploring all the (free!) things to do in our little city. Wildwood Park and the Midtown Scholar bookstore were fantastic!

today

Really feels like summer. Cousins visiting, long days in the river and finding treasures to put on the rock pile. Hope you are enjoying it too!
