Still here!

Things have been so busy with work and fun community events that I haven't blogged in awhile! Had a neat weekend with friends at potluck and a couple of amazing gatherings to celebrate the poetry of Rumi and Kirtan from David Newman. Wonderful! Such a blessing to connect with all our beloveds this season! Hope you are all doing the same... :)

amazing days

Love how the weather changes so much this time of year.  One day it's sunny and bright, the next day we're inside cozy by the wood stove.

fog on the river earlier this morning (made me grab a cup of tea)

fog just beginning to clear as the morning rolls on

Moment to moment nirvana

Isn't that phrase a perfect way to describe the experience of being a parent (and life in general) sometimes?  Feeling so grateful in this moment for clear seeing and a sense of peace and blessings.
Moment to moment nirvana...

"Meditation (zazen) can be restful and enjoyable, according to Dogen. Its state (samadhi) can be like an ocean that is serene and yet dynamic. Its field can be as vast as springtime, which encompasses all of its flowers, birds, and mountain colors. Being in spring, we hear the sound of a valley stream or become a plum blossom swirling in the wind."

Stalking the wild pumpkin

A wild pumpkin hides along the shimmering shores of the peaceful Susquehanna river, growing quietly among the wildflowers and river grass.

The wild pumpkin in it's native habitat.

Can you believe we found this little beauty just growing wild along the river bank? Must have been a remnant from a pumpkin we had along the bank last winter! (This takes foraging to a whole new level.). ;) That river soil is magic!

Little Wizard

We recycle a lot of paper around here, so why not
conjure up a little wizard? ;)

quiet morning visitor

Woke up this morning, racing around getting ready for work.  Glanced out the window and saw this beautiful sight.  Brought me right back to the moment with a smile.  Breathe.....  :)

(Luckily we have a buffer of trees on either side because I'm forever running out in pj's for pics!). ;)

Is there anything better than a tree on a hot sunny day?

100 degrees? Hit the beach!

So much cooler in the ocean and under the shade of a beach umbrella. Feel like a lizard on a hot rock... :)

Gone gardening

More at www.childrensrainbowgarden.blogspot.com. (Sorry to keep posting this way but wanted any visitors to know I'm still here!). :)  I'm inspired by a new love of rainbows and magic per Childhood Magic (a lovely blog I found soon after we named our garden (rainbows for the diversity, health and joy we hope to share there)).  As a child of late 70's the only rainbows I ever had in my life were those nerdy rainbow suspenders I wore during the roller skating parties we had in elementary school gym.  So happy to be having more fun with them these days.  ;)

More resting (maybe more resting than gardening but that's ok!) ;)

Been gardening!

For anyone who might stop here, so sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I've still taken many neat pictures but haven't gotten them to here! :) We've been spending some time in our community garden and I've promised to try to keep that site updated once every week or two. Please stop back here but you can also go to our garden blog site if you are interested. That would be wonderful. You can check it out at www.childrensrainbowgarden.blogspot.com. Have a wonderful day! ~Marykaye

Fairy Festival!

Way too many pics but so much fun! These are from a wonderful local event called The Fairy Festival, which took place on May Day, 2010 at Spoutwood Farm near Glen Rock, Pa. My favorite part was seeing big fairies (parents) carrying all of the tired little fairies (adorable little ones in full fairy attire) out of the woods by the end of the day! We had wonderful food (banana nutella crepes, fairy punch and grilled corn), saw wonderful wares and enjoyed fairy mazes, little fairy homes throughout the forest paths and a great drum circle at the end. We even toured a neat cottage and met a moss man! :)

Lovely days

Been inspired by the The Great Outdoors Challenge to enjoy fun times in nature the past few weeks.  The weather's been lovely most days but we even had fun camping at Greenwood Furnace State Park with friends in their cozy camper (thanks Jamie and Steve!!) one cold and rainy weekend.  Doesn't everything taste better if you cook it over a campfire?  (Ok, maybe even better when someone else cooks it for you), ;)  Ate some meals out back a few evenings and got down to the riverbank before bed some others.  Pics at the end of the slideshow are of Danielsun who just graduated and is studying for his PTA license.  Way to go Daniel!
