beautiful morning

Had a lovely morning that just flew by. Did all this before noon:
Ate a sweet breakfast on holiday placemats and River loved remembering to try to "eat a rainbow" by adding some carrots and grapes ;)  (Been working on including seasonal traditions and making meals more fun so we get in more of a routine).  After that he was excited to get out a book about crystals and look at some real ones before taking some pictures of his own. We would have made more music and drawn some pictures but we ran out of time before school!  Stopped off at Grandpa Jack's on the way up to the bus so he could show me some of his science "experiments" (concoctions complete with a book of "secret formula" recipes :)).  I was thinking how much fun it might be to get some supplies to make homemade lotions and shampoos with essential oils and let him go at it! Spent some time after he left picking out pictures for photo gifts and felt so grateful for a lovely warm drink and cookies made by a friend. Today was like a lovely peaceful island in the middle of my work week (hope everyone gets some time like that for themselves)!!  Have a great day.

Sunday

It felt so fresh outdoors after a cozy day inside (and you gotta have a little time in the mud to make a day complete.) ;) Our winter days have shrunk down to these few fun spaces but we love it!

peaceful morning

Had a lovely morning listening to a free music stream from WXPN's "Sleepy Hollow" , a mellow and peaceful background while River made a wonderful cozy burrow with all of the pillows we could find. :)  It's been getting colder the last few days, which for us means 20-30's F and the river out back is beginning to freeze a bit in the middle.  So neat how everything slows down now (in so many ways) and amazing when the river finally freezes on top altogether (feels so still then).  Feeling grateful for a cozy fire and warmth and thinking so much about others and hoping they have those comforts, too.  Been dreaming about learning to knit and how much fun it would be to be able to provide some small comfort to someone without a home in the form of a blanket or hat made with love.  (Wouldn't the world be beautiful if we all had a dedicated habit of sharing our gifts with each other in the ways that we have a passion for.).

A nice breakfast we made together (the last greens and potatoes from Spiral Path (CSA)) and a lovely moment with Grandpa Frank
